Mainstream Engineering Spins off US Auto Company Avera Motors.

Mainstream Engineering, a Rockledge-based research, development and manufacturing firm, announces the spin-off of its automotive division and the creation of an independent automotive company known as Avera Motors. Avera is led by its founder RJ Scaringe, a Brevard county native with a PhD in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Scaringe envisions Avera shifting the paradigm within the current automotive model to increase manufacturing efficiency while producing a highly-desirable, fuel-efficient vehicle.
“Avera’s vehicles are being developed to focus on car enthusiasts. This is someone that wants an extremely fun sports car but can’t spend the money, needs more than two seats, or wants better efficiency. Avera’s vehicles will handle better than some of the world’s best known sports cars, seat four people, and cost about the same as a Toyota Prius, all while achieving outstanding efficiency on the existing fueling infrastructure,” says Scaringe.
As an avid car enthusiast, Scaringe says Avera’s vehicles will all be focused on excitement, “While extremely efficient, all of our cars will truly be fun to drive.”
Today, Avera Motors is headquartered in Rockledge and has a rock star team of 15 automotive engineers and designers that have been recruited from existing vehicle manufacturers. Avera’s first vehicle is an ultra-efficient, four-passenger sports car. Long range plans include other models built off a shared platform and by 2015 the company plans to employ more than 1100 people.

The company name is a blend of “American”, “verde” meaning green and
“terra” meaning earth. The combination of the three words holds
significance to the team at Avera because the focus of vehicle
