1969 Porsche 917 PA Spyder
To compete for the title in the North American Can-Am Series, an open
917 with a 16-cylinder naturally aspirated engine is built in addition
to a 12-cylinder turbo Spyder.
Porsche intends to use the 917 to make inroads into the power range of the competitors' eight-litre engines.
This 917 version never makes it beyond the test track in Weissach. In comparison tests, the new 12-cylinder turbo proves to be the stronger.
