The history of Tatra.
Tatra started manufacturing cars and trucks in 1897 which makes it a 104 year old company. Tatra is still in business and is located in the town of Koprivnice in the former Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic. An interesting fact in history is that the Tatra V570 is the predecessor to the V.W. Bug )Beetle). The V570was first shown at the 1931 Paris, France Autoshow. It has an air-cooled engine in the rear, a maximum speed of 55 mph and seats 4 people.
Tatra stopped producing cars in 1997 and is currently producing heavy duty trucks only.
